China Tianying Attends ESG Opportunities and Challenges 2024 Online Conference
2024-01-10

On 10th January 2024, the "ESG Opportunities and Challenges 2024 Conference" hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Beijing was held online, with Max Harrington, Head of the Climate and Environment Department of the Embassy, moderating the conference. Participants including CNTY exchanged views on ESG opportunities and challenges on the conference.

Cary Krosinsky, lecturer at Yale University, was invited to give a keynote speech on "How Investors Should Respond to the Changing ESG Landscape in 2024". He states that as the concept of sustainable development heats up globally, ESG investment is becoming an important agenda for investors in China and around the world. 2023 saw a gradual transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, which will likely to continue in the future. In terms of the opportunities and challenges facing China in the field of ESG, he says that in the process of achieving the "double carbon" goals, some traditional industries will be significantly affected by the change of energy structure; China's ESG standards are also being optimised, which will help to improve people's quality of life, but also bring new investments in areas like wind, solar, electric vehicles, energy storage, power equipment, and so on.
